      A:  It has power to operate - batteries are not meant to last a lifetime only to be used in case of electric failure - I believe my 1st battery lasted over 10 years

                              A:  The only tools needed to replace the garage door backup battery are a step ladder and a Phillips head screwdriver. It is very easy to do. Unplug or disconnect the power to the garage door motor before starting to replace the battery. YouTube has several DIY videos that illustrate how to replace the battery.
