Q:Hi Is this wire like soft wire or its the same as the southwire?

        Answer This Question

A:  This is not stranded wire, if that's what you mean - it's solid conductor. The only difference between this Cerrowire and the Southwire 12/2 is who manufacturers it. They are for all intents and purposes related to electrical work, designed to be interchangeable.

A:  This is not wire, but a cable assembly made up of two insulated conductors and one bare conductor. This Cerrowire 12-2 NM-B cable is very similar to Southwire 12-2 NM-B cable.

A:  Not quite sure what you mean by soft wire but I take it you're either referring to stranded thhn or SO cord. Either way these styles are not the same as the Southwire romex. All these are totally different applications.

        Answer This Question

A:  Yes. It's just electrical wire. Use the bottom passthroughs on the light switch so that the light doesn't have to be on for the new plug to work

        by|Jan 28, 2024

A:  It will but I don't recommend it

A:  Your receptacles will do fine with this gauge wire based on your load demands. Lighting is normally 14/2 w ground. My garage receptacles are all wired with this wire and 20 amp breakers. My lighting wired 14/2 with 15 amp breakers.

A:  It really depends on your town electrical code. I have used 12-2 with ground for the outlets and lights. Underground may need to be in pvc tubing. If not, they make 12-2 with ground UF which stands for Underground Feed.

Q:Is this item priced correctly? This would be extravagant even for the leading brand (and this is not the industry leading brand). Looks like several of the reviews are citing issues with the quality of the sheathing/jacketing? Is this item under review? Please advise.

A:  Somebody messed up on the pricing. This stuff is like 60 bucks in store

            by|Jul 8, 2023

A:  Lowes is currently half this price.

              by|Sep 7, 2023

A:  I found this correctly priced, light weight and easy to use. NO problems with sheathing when properly installed and used according to load limits. I would use this product again without hesitation. PS, Project inspected and approved with no objections.

                Answer This Question

A:  You need at least a gauge 6 wire for that many amps

                by|Mar 2, 2021

A:  8 gauge would be the minimim depending on the type of wire utilized, however, 6 gauge would be highly recommended.

                  by|Mar 20, 2021

A:  For a 50 amp circuit, the correct size wire gauge is #8.

                  by|Mar 2, 2021

A:  If NM-B cable you can use a #6, but if THHN in conduit you can use a #8.
