A: Wasn't in the local store, ordered on-line; came in three days. I wouldn't expect the store to carry inventory; no long line of folks at the door anxious to buy a tool that requires this much hard work.

A: I had to order it on line for "ship to store." Pickup was free and they notified me when it was available. Pickup was simple, just go to the pickup desk.

Answer This Question
A: Put a razor sharp edge on the cutting blade and it will cut through most any type of sod. With the 12 gage steel blade, even with constant sharpening it will last for many years.

A: Don't know what St. Augustine sod is, but works for Bermuda grass which has a dense and deep root system.

A: Hello! We have designed the blade so it can be sharpened with a file or grinder to the users preferences. It should be able to get the job done!

Q:Is the handle strong enough to actually lift sod without bending or breaking? Is the edge sharp enough to actually cut through sod?

Answer This Question
A: Absolutely yes! Once you skim under the sod, you can decide how much you want to lift or flip over out of the way each time. If you precut piece sizes, the job will be easier.

A: YES!! THE BEND IN THE DESIGN HELPS WITH THE LIFTING. BUILT TO LAST!! THE "HARPOON STYLE" BLADE SLICES RIGHT THRU.. IT TAKES A LITTLE PRACTICE TO GET THE RIGHT ANGLE FOR THE THRUST BUT ONCE YOU "ARE IN THE GROOVE" IT CUTS & LIFTS GREAT!

A: The handle is plenty strong. I have not sharpened the edge yet, but am considering it in the future. As it arrived it has a beveled edge.

A: I found the handle and welded connection tempered and strong; never bent or stressed. The blade was factory sharp, worked okay, but cut better after I resharpened the edge on a bench grinder. Make no mistake, the tool does not make sod lifting easy; it is still hard and heavy work. But the "lifter" makes the cuts more accurate and uniform than a shovel.

A: Any steel will bend if enough force is applied, but under reasonable stress when doing to job, yes the tool has been tested to hold up. As to sharpness this has also been tested to do most general jobs, however if the blade is not to your preference it has been designed to easily sharpen with a file or grinder. I hope this helps, thank you for your interest!
