Answer This Question

A:  Hello there, Thank you for contacting AHF Products. I’m sorry, but I do not have any information on a product named “northern forest crystal ash”.  I can tell you that the floor in the link you provided, Bruce model SHD2210, store sku 1000019492, is the red oak species and the plank is 3/4” thick x 2-1/4” wide. The lengths vary from 9” – 84”, it’s high gloss, and has microbeveled edges and square ends.  “Natural” means no color was added to the coating so that it is the natural red oak you see. I hope this information is helpful. If you would like to discuss further, please feel free to contact us again by e-mail at productsupport@ahfproducts.com or by phone at 1-866-243-2726, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm, EST.  Additional information may also be found at our technical website FloorExpert.com.

A:  Hello Amy! Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your question. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. However, this color appears to be only available in high gloss finish. We classify our gloss levels as high, medium, and low gloss. To get something potentially similar to a matte type of finish, I would recommend looking into products that feature a low gloss finish. However, we are unable to guarantee availability of every color option in this type of gloss. Once again, thank you for contacting AHF Products. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again, Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am – 4:30 pm EST by e-mail at productsupport@ahfproducts.com or by phone at 1-866-243-2726.

A:  Hello Bruce, Thank you for contacting AHF Products. I’m sorry, but our stains are not available on the market. They are UV cured and applied through our manufacturing process. We recommend contacting a local professional: a paint/stain specialist can custom color match our stains. Please visit your local paint professional with an uninstalled sample of the floor and the material you would like to match.   I hope this information is helpful. Q:Is underlayment required for natural red oak?

          Answer This Question

A:  Hi Robinson! Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your question. Solid hardwood flooring can be fastened to most existing flooring materials providing they can be penetrated with the fastener and the subfloor/underlayment materials meet or exceed the recommended subfloor/underlayment requirements. Laminated rosin paper or 15# builders felt (tar paper) acts as a moisture retarder and may be used to reduce movement caused by changes in subfloor moisture, thereby reducing cupping and warping. (This is especially helpful over crawl spaces and basements.) For additional information regarding installation please visit the following link: https://bit.ly/3RfiPAL. If you have additional questions please feel free to contact our Customer Services Team at 1-866-243-2726, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST., if you'd like additional assistance. A:  Hello Maggie, Thank you for contacting AHF Products. Our products are packaged by square footage, not number of boards. There is no quantifiable number of short boards vs. long boards per carton of material.  Install from several different cartons at a time to ensure good color and length variation. I hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us again by e-mail at productsupport@ahfproducts.com or by phone at 1-866-243-2726, Monday through Friday from 9am to 4:30pm, EST.  Additional information may also be found at our technical website FloorExpert.com.

Q:Hello - I have to replace a few planks of flooring in a home I bought. I found a couple of scraps and they have "BRUCE 96" stamped on the back. Does that just define the style of flooring and NOT the color?

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi there! Thank you for taking the time to contact us with your question. The information stamped on the back of the board is specific to the plant where the floor was made, it does not help us identify the floor. However, if you know the general specifications such as thickness, width and species our product and technical team can assist in finding something comparable.  Please feel free to contact our Customer Services at 1-866-243-2726, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. EST., if you'd like additional assistance. Have a wonderful day.
