Q:If the heater shut off, how long will it take to turn on again?

Answer This Question

A:  If the heater shuts off due to thermostat setting then it could be variable from a couple minutes to several minutes before it restarts. If it shuts off because of movement then it will restart in a few seconds once it is upright and stationary.

A:  Are you referring to the thermostat cycling? If so, I guess the best answer is “depends”...how big is the area you’re heating, how cold is it outside, how well or not is the area insulated, what’s the thermostat setting, etc. When using mine to heat a 60 sq. foot room to about 65°, it cycled on/off every few minutes. I have been quite satisfied with the way mine performs. It’s quiet and dependable. A good buy.

A:  If the heater shuts off because the desired warmth was reached, it will remain off until the air in the room cools down below the thermostat setting. At that time, the unit will run again until the desired temperature is reached. If the unit shuts off due to overheating, you will have to reset the unit by turning it off and disconnecting the power cord. The heater will have to cool down before the thermostat resets. A:  I use it for additional heat in a small bathroom when showering and it has never turned off. I unplug it when I am finished.

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  The heater would cycle on for 5 minutes and then off for 4 to 5 minutes. It seemed to be defective, I liked the heater other than the cycling issue and chose a different brand since the heat output was diminished by the cycling issue. Also, the room I was using the heater in was cold and the cycling in my opinion was not the result of the heater reaching room temperature. All the other heaters I have used never cycled like this one which lead me to believe the heater was defective.

A:  The heater shuts off automatically according to the setting of the thermostat. Once the temperature lowers below the set point of the thermostat, the heater comes on again. How soon it comes on again is dependent on how long it takes the air in the room to cool off. The heater will also shut off if it is tipped over. Once it is turned upright, it will immediately come on again.

A:  Once the room cools down a bit it should kick back on. Also, be sure it is sitting on a flat level surface.

            by|May 5, 2023

A:  It is thermostatically controlled, it should come on when the temperature around it drops to the setting you have it on. Do remember there are 3 settings on the upper knob, Off, fan only, low heat and high heat. If that is not keeping it warm enough, I'd recommend turning the lower knob (temperature control) up a little at a time until you get the right setting for you. If these suggestions don't solve your problem, I suggest you call Broan Company, their customer service is outstanding.

A:  Since the heater has a built-in thermostat, it will turn on again when the temperature falls below the temperature setting you established. Same as a house furnace

A:  The adjustable thermostat will turn both the fan and the heat coil on and off. There is a 4-position operation switch--off, fan, low, and high. The thermostat knob will turn the unit on or off no matter which operation is selected, if the temperature passes the thermostat set point.

                  by|May 5, 2023

A:  Yes. Once the room is warmed up, the heater will shut off. The thermostat can only do it's job if the unit is "On", but it will shut off the heater and cycle back on as needed. Please follow the operating instructions and safety guide lines. Thank you.

A:  These too are also now made in China. They still seem like a well made heater though. Time will tell if they are as good as the "old" Big Heats.

A:  This heater has two wattage settings: 750W and 1500W. If the thermostat is turned all the way down, the heater will only turn on if the room is very cold. The fan operates at both heat settings, and there is also a "fan" setting that operates the fan without heat.

A:  The watt draw range is 1200 (low) to 1500 (high). When it is on low, it will draw less watts and amps than when it is on high.

A:  Depending on your desired temp it will be adequate for 150-200 sq ft. I have used it for cold weather camping in my travel trailer and it works amazingly well.

A:  The area that this heater will effectively heat depends on how well insulated it is. A 1500W heater should be able to keep an average 12' x 12' bedroom cozy. It heats my little bathroom to a comfortable temperature in about 5 minutes.

A:  This small, portable heater is considered a secondary source of heat. It is not to be used as the primary source of heat. Follow the operating instructions. Turn upper knob to desired setting: fan only, low heat (1200 W), or high heat (1500 W). A temperature is not given since this is not a primary source of heat. Turn lower knob to set thermostat at desired warmth. Once the room is warmed up, you will save electricity and maintain more even heat by moving upper knob to "low" setting. Thank you.

A:  The top knob controls off, fan only, low heat, high heat. The lower knob controls the thermostat, as you turn it clockwise, the temperature increases.
