Questions and Answers for Briggs & Stratton Air Filter for 3.5 Through 6.75 HP Quantum Engines and 625-1575 Series Engines

A:  To locate the correct parts for your engine, you will first need the engine’s Model, Type, and Code. A:  The package says Briggs & Stratton Milwaukee WI. I use these all the time & have had no problem with them.

A:  Neither the package nor the filter specifically says "made in..." but the paper of the filter says genuine Briggs & Stratton, Wisconsin USA

A:  I don't know if it is or not. The best thing to do is check what you are currently using to see if there is a Pat # on it. Sometimes, the back of the package may state which models this will fit.

A:  No! Koehler makes it's own air filter and spark plug. The Kohler air filter is somewhat smaller.

A:  Take the filter off per owners manual to see if it matches. My B&S Craftsman 190cc platinum engine used it.

You can find those numbers by navigating to the Briggs and Stratton website and once you are there, there will be a support tab located at the top of the page. Click this and it will drop down into more options, on the left there will be an option to download manuals, you can then find information on where the numbers will be located on your unit. Once you have found those numbers, you can enter them in the website for a downloadable parts manual and operator’s manual, the parts manual will provide you with a part number for a compatible replacement part

A:  If your old filter has outside dimensions of 4.5 inches by 5 to 5.125 inches then it will fit.

A:  I would take the old one with you to the store as there are two sizes that are really close but buying the wrong one makes this a two trip project.

A:  Side of engine.

A:  If you are standing behind it looking forward on the right side of the engine towards the front is a black plastic box, the filter is in that. One screw is all it should take to open it and pay attention to which side is pointing which direction and replace the new filter pointing the same direction. Simple as that.

A:  There's a smallish (6inch or so) rectangular box on the right or left side of the motor. Open that and it goes in there.

A:  Air filters are usually located in the vicinity of the carberator. You can get a printable manual on line at many locations. Just type in your model number followed by "user manual" in a search engine and you'll be in business
