A: This basket is very strong, and solid and will hold a lot of weight...! I lined it, filled with it with soil and planted large plants . Even when watered it is still very solid. The metal hanger it comes with is also quite strong. Make sure whatever you are hanging it from is able to withstand this heavy planter. I love it......!

A: Terry, each basket is made from recycled hardwood from a sawmill in Guatemala. There are six varieties of wood that they use. We have not had any issues brought to our attention of the wood not holding up for long periods of time. If you have any further questions feel free to call contact us.

A: I am not sure this will help solve the type of wood but home depot sought me out for an answer.
The wood is reddish/ white and rough cut, that might be the natural color but I cannot say what type of wood it is, perhaps ask the manufacturer( better-grow, a sun bulb company).
I have had my baskets about 2 years, for orchids, watered by a misting system, no rot detected so far, for the price and wait to get it delivered since not stocked at the store, it was worth it

Answer This Question
A: Hello Gil. Liners are not specifically made to fit these baskets. We suggest you use Better-Gro Orchid Moss to line the basket prior to planting. Our orchid moss is a very high grade of sphagnum moss, and it can be used to line the baskets for plants other than orchids as well. Happy Blooming! - Your friends at Better-Gro
