          A:  the outside dimension is about 5 1/2"x5 1/2", the holes for screw is about 4 3/8" apart, so it doesn't fit 4x4 wood post. it might fit 6x6 post, but i guess you have to trim the post top a bit. and the base has a round corner.

            A:  No. You would need at least a 5 x5 post. This mount adaptor would be too big for a 4x4.
