Q:If it pumps 2200 gallons per hour with a 10? lift, I suppose that?s 36.6 gallons per minute? Because the gallons per minute is much less than a ?regular? sump pump, is the main benefit of this pump that it has a battery back up?

Answer This Question
A: This system is considered a battery backup sump pump system. It is not meant to be used as a standalone primary pump. As far as backup pumps goes this is the strongest, most powerful Basement Watchdog system we make. Q:The manual says to install the dual float 6" above water line. In my case this put the float slightly above the bottom of the inlet drain tile. When testing, water kept going into the the drain tile and never reached the bottom float. Is this correct?

Answer This Question
A: In most applications, the 6” mark is correct. However, every situation is different and it appears that in your case, the float should be a little lower. Ideally the float switch should not be above the drain tile. We would recommend mounting the switch at a height just below the drain tile, and make sure it is facing away from the drain tile so as to not get splashed on. Q:I have a primary pump already installed in the pit. The instructions for the back up Big Dog pump reference "water level" to guide where to drill the 1/8" hole and where to install the dual float switch. How do I determine where this "water level" is?

Answer This Question
A: The level referenced is the level of water where either the primary pump activates or where the water table is. There is usually a line of discoloration on the sides of the pit or on the primary pump/primary pump discharge pipe that indicates this. For further information or assistance, please contact out customer support team at 800-991-0466 option 3. We are available to take incoming calls from 8am – 6pm CT Monday through Friday.

Q:Can we plug the battery backup into an extension cord? Can our current sump pump continue to operate on 110 outlet?
by|Jul 18, 2022

Answer This Question
A: The battery backup system operates independently from the primary pump system. The backup system needs its own 115V/AC receptacle to be plugged into. We also recommend this receptacle have surge protection rated at 1500 joules or more. For more information, please contact our customer support team at 800-991-0466 option 3. We are available to take incoming calls from 9am – 5pm Monday through Friday.
