A:  The unit comes with a 6.5-8 hour charger. Very inexpensive but it functions properly. You would be better off to get a 1 hour rapid charger. Do a search for 1 hour rapid charger firestorm ni cad and you will have many options. A:  Black and Decker manufacture a trimmer that takes a 18 volt Ni Cad battery and a unit that uses 40 volt Lithium batteries. So it could be the same as the 18 volt trimmer. My mom has the blower and trimmer and I have a drill and blower that take the 18 volt Ni Cad.
