Q:It SMELLS. Has anyone noticed it has a chemical manufacturing stink to it? I set mine outside in the sun to get unstinky -- 2 days -- still stinky. Has anyone else been able to get rid of the weird chemical stink?

Q:Has anyone else noticed that sani seal has removed the 1" flange that reaches into the waste pipe? I just ordered one and the flange is no more than 1/4" I've used this toilet gasket for since 2017. I've installed 5 of them. They all had the 1" flange. I tried email their customer support. No response. No phone number listed.

A:  I returned the one I bought last month after seeing the condition of one I installed 3 1/2 yrs ago. Blisters on the collar and cracks in the body. Perhaps they have redesigned to correct the issue. I just hope the other unit O installed in 2017 holds up.

A:  Yes , I’ve noticed that also . I’ve installed at least 20 of them prior to the change.. I use these when the flange isn’t at its normal height . I’ve installed three of the newer version and I’m ok with it .

A:  It should work but the inside diamter of this product is a lot bigger. I used it for a large 5" inside diameter flange where most other products were too small. The outside diameter is about 7", that might also be a consideration. The flange bolts go through the small holes shown in the picture.

A:  The sleeve that drops into the waste line is tapered to fit any size pipe typically used for a toilet. Generally, that is 3-4 inch diameter. It may be possible to go down to 2-1/8", but I doubt that could handle the waste water from a flush without clogging. If it were me doing the project, I wouldn't do it for that reason alone, but also because it won't meet code. You likely don't have to pass an inspection for this, but the building codes are designed to ensure a safe and properly functioning installation and should be followed regardless for your protection.

A:  Once you install the toilet over the ring, very little surface area of the ring comes into contact with liquid so I'd think it shouldn't effect the ring at all, especially after the water in the toilet bowl dilutes the actual liquid cleaner when you flush the toilet.

A:  This is not damaged by your every day cleaners. The only thing that would have any effect on it would be an petroleum products like paint thinners or gas or something like that, But you shouldn't be flushing that stuff down a toilet at any time! Thanks, Dwayne

A:  If the gasket is installed the way it should there is no (or minimun) contact with liquid, the gasket stop the gases coming from the sistem it seals the union, remenber most of the liqued in the toilet contain acid in one way or another, now, using product with bleach will corred faster any part of pvc, plastic or metalic part in the systems try to avoid using it.

A:  I have three new toilets in my house, all installed with this gasket, and they all work fine. Before installing the new toilets, I had three, cheap, Glacier Bay toilets that clogged constantly. The replacement toilets are American Standard Vormax and we’ve been flushing without plunging ever since!

A:  Mine has not had a similar problem. I would imagine that your situation is indicating a bigger problem either with improper installation or your drain pipes.

A:  As long as it was installed correctly you should not have any flushing problems because of this. But if it were somehow pinched or something it might. But the best thing about this is that you can remove the toilet to check it out and you can still use the same one to put it back together. So the only thing you have to lose is a bit if time. I hope this helps. Good Luck. Dwayne

A:  As long as the toilet bowl exit hole at the bottom is properly installed over the ring there should be no reason for any blockage on the part of the rubber ring. If your toilet is an older model, that may be more likely the issue. Mine used to stop up frequently when depositing toilet paper in the bowl. If you didn't have a problem before installing the ring with this toilet, I'd remove and reseat the toilet over the flange again to cover your bases.
