A:  Contact Bemis. I have a slow-close seat with a light and they sent me out a replacement light when it malfunctioned.

A:  Yes this happened to me with at least two of these. If you get into the habit of pushing it closed, like my cleaning ladies would do, it will stop working properly.

A:  Look for missing plug in the end of the hinge area they will pop out and cause the spring to become unwound. if you can find the piece (but have flushed it) you can wind the spring back up and reinstall plug and add superglue to it. I have heard it is a flaw that if you force the seat down it pops out.

Once screws are removed from a wood seat, the screw hole can be stripped, causing the hole to not hold new screws up to our safety and warranty levels. Hinges on plastic seats are installed at the factory while the plastic is still warm using special tools. Because of this, bumpers or hinges on plastic seats cannot be replaced. Bemis Manufacturing does offer a one year manufacturing defect warranty that is handled through the location of purchase. If your seat is less than one year from the date of purchase, you can return the seat to the store for immediate return or exchange. A:  I haven't had any experience with your problem but I would suggest adjusting the installation nuts for the seat, either loosening them or tightening them to see if that corrects the problem. If that doesn't do any good then I would contact Hoe Depot about the problem and see if they can resolve it or else you may have to contact the company for a replacement. But before any of that i would attack readjusting the installation nuts for the seat and see if that causes any change in the closure rate of the seat. Good luck to you!

A:  check to see if the round pieces in the hinge that connects the seat to the cover have come out of their normal positions. If so force them back to their normal position. This worked for me.,

A:  If you have this plastic toilet seat, there is no hardware on it except for some platics that you simply have to turn to tighten the seat to the toilet. Go underneath the pieces that connect the toilet seat to the toilet base and turn them clockwise or counterclockwise and this should tighten the seat to the base. That's what I do when the seat become loose and moves.

A:  Yes, it comes with its own installation hardware and will line up with the holes on the toilet that are already there. A very simple installation.

A:  Possibly .. but the new seat comes with hadware which works really well & installs easily..

A:  Actually, this came with it's own hardware. It'll be easier to replace next time. My old unit had metal hardware and it was tough getting it loose.

A:  As far as I know, it does come in white. I don't know of any other colors. Contact Bemis to find out.

A:  I'm not familiar with Mayfair seats. But this plastic seat is comfortable and the slow-close feature of the seat is great! It is an elongated seat (not round). So you probably could replace a wooden toilet seat with this one (I did!) I don't know if Bemis' wood toilet seat's hardware would fit your Mayfair - you should contact Bemis directly.
