A:  Hi Horacio, Thank you for your questions. The dried film for this stain is non-toxic and won't pose a threat if you come in contact with it. Once the stain chips are collected, we recommend reaching out to your local waste management for instructions on how to dispose of the dried stain in your area. Best - Sara

A:  Mike, my wife and I applied this product ourselves to 2 porches that were built with treated lumber that had weathered for a few years and the product is still in good shape after 5 years. There a few very minor spots but nothing serious in spite of the absolute brutal Mississippi sun and humidity. We had a handicap ramp put on a few years ago and after about 9 months we hired a "pro" to apply the deckover product to the ramp. We bought the Behr deck cleaner and he used it and scrubbed the new wood before applying the deckover. I explained to him to be liberal with the product and apply 2 thick coats. I think he might have gone a little light on the applications and within the first year it started peeling and is coming off in small sheets. I complained to Behr about my experience via Home Depot's website and the replaced the full amount of the product. It is too hot right now to apply it because the surface shouldn't be above 90 degrees F. So this fall we will apply it ourselves this time. Behr suggested sanding but I will be able to remove a lot of it by scraping. I tried a quick pressure wash to see how it would do and it did work somewhat but there will still be some sanding/scraping involved. I do think I will get the majority of it with the pressure washer. I'm hoping we will get the results that we originally did with the porches this time. Good luck, hope this helped..

A:  Hi Flriver, Thanks for writing in with your question. It should be okay to allow the wood to dry after the rain and stain, unless you notice mud or if the surface no longer looks clean. Have a great day! Regards, Giovanna

Q:Should this product be used on wood that is new...never stained?

A:  It can be as long as the wood has cured for a summer. I used it on a deck that had been stained 3 or 4 times before and it has held up for 3 years now.

A:  Hi Wife, Thanks for reaching out! While DeckOver is ideal for older decks, it can certainly be used on brand new wood that’s never been stained before. Although DeckOver is a great product, I’d recommend starting out with our Solid Color Waterproofing Wood Stain & Sealer because it’s an easier product to use. Hope this helps! ~Doris
