Answer This Question

A:  Hi Richj, Thanks for writing in. It's best to clean the surface that you plan on staining. You can touch up the area(s) affected by peeling as well as the new boards. Adding a final coat over the entire surface is recommended to achieve color uniformity throughout the deck. ~Doris

A:  Hi TM, Thank you for your question. Our DeckOver can be used over a previously coated paint/stain in good condition. However, before applying the product, it's recommended to use our All-In-One Wood Cleaner (https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-gal-All-In-One-Wood-Cleaner-06301N/203200559) to promote adhesion. I hope this was helpful. Best of luck on your project. -Edith

A:  Hello Jim, Thank you for your interest in our products. It’s hard to say the exact amount of years it’ll last on the deck. It mainly depends on the preparation prior to applying the product and also the weather in your area. Before applying our product, we recommend cleaning the deck with our No. 63 cleaner. It may be too thick of a product for the shed. For the shed I would suggest our Solid Color Weatherproofing Wood Stain. Best regards, Kevin

              Answer This Question

A:  Hello kris, We appreciate your question. If desired, DeckOver can be topcoated with water-based paints and stains, though we haven't tested it with epoxies. You might want to check with the epoxy manufacturer to see if their product successfully adhere to a 100% acrylic product like ours. Hope this helps! -Joshua
