Answer This Question

A:  Hi RJ, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, we don't recommend thinning this product as it was designed to be used at package consistency. We currently don't have a lighter version of this color, so you may want to reach out to your local Home Depot for a similar product that will provide a more transparent finish and lighter color for your masonry wall. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

A:  Hi Judi, Thank you for your question. Because this is a semi-transparent finish, you will still see the red brick color through the stain. To completely cover the red brick, we recommend checking out our Solid Color Concrete Stain instead (https://www.homedepot.com/p/BEHR-Premium-1-gal-White-Base-Solid-Color-Waterproofing-Exterior-Wood-Stain-and-Sealer-501101/203223471). A:  Hi Rachel, Thank you for your questions! If the bare concrete is already porous once it's completely cured, you can skip the etching step. We recommend sprinkling water droplets randomly throughout your project to check for porosity. If the water drops soak into the concrete right away, the surface is porous enough to stain. If the water drops sit on the surface before soaking in, the surface will need to be etched with a chemical etcher or floor grinder. Once you've ensured that the surface is porous, clean and completely dry, we recommend priming your floors with our Concrete & Masonry Bonding Primer before staining. For a more uniform look, we recommend immediately back-rolling the stain with a 3/8" nap roller or pad applicator after spraying. A second coat of stain can be applied for a uniform finish as well. Best wishes for your project! - Sara

A:  My project was exterior. However, I have used an interior concrete paint. I did use a sealer/base coat as per the instructions on the paint can. Not sure I would use a STAIN if the area will get heavy foot traffic, unless you're using area rugs.

        Answer This Question

A:  Hello Jill, Thanks for reaching out. No, this product’s semi-transparent finish will not cover old marks. The final color is affected by the current color of the concrete. Although it can be applied to a pool deck, the exposure to chlorine may shorten the lifespan of the product. Please keep in mind that slip resistant products tend to have a texture which attracts more dirt than a smooth surface which can be slippery when wet. I hope this information helps and good luck with your project. Best, Roxana N.

            Answer This Question

A:  Hello Adam, We appreciate your question. Our concrete coatings, including this one, aren't designed to adhere to any type of vinyl but only concrete and masonry. Therefore, I would have to recommend checking with Home Depot for another brand's coating that would be suited to your project needs. Well wishes for your patio!

A:  I'd be hesitant to put a concrete STAIN on anything other than bare (untreated) concrete.

Q:Will this product work on a "washed concrete" surface where the aggregate is exposed.

              Answer This Question

A:  I seriously doubt it. It is a paint that flakes off pretty easy. The aggregate will aggrevate the problem. This is a truly awful product.

A:  Hello Frank, Thanks for your interest in our stain. Since this is a penetrating stain formula, it needs to go into something porous, not aggregate. Therefore, we wouldn't recommend it on this type of concrete. You might ask Home Depot for another brand's coating that would be suited to your project needs. Well wishes for your project!
