Q:Hi, can this be used for the railings and handrails of a deck/porch? The wood is all pressure treated lumber. I had conflicting information as to whether this will adhere to it or whether I need to use an oil based latex paint instead.

Answer This Question

A:  Hi lain, thank you for your question. The House & Fence Wood Stain can be used on pressure-treated wood. New pressure-treated wood needs to dry for 6-8 weeks before coating. I also suggest cleaning with our All-In-One Wood Cleaner No. 063. Have a great day! -Alex

Q:I have a half empty 5gallon bucket that is a year old. How long does it last when opened?

            Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, thanks for the question. After the stain has been opened, it's hard to determine how long it will last because it depends on how much air is in the container and how the product is stored. The stain can last a year or longer if stored correctly. I'd suggest stirring the stain, and if it mixes together correctly, has the correct consistency, and has no foul smell, it should be okay to use. If you have any further questions, please feel free to reach out to us directly. Our customer care team is happy to help. Ronald

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi ronl, thank you for your question. The Solid House and Fence Wood Stain should not be used on floors. For decks or projects with foot traffic, you'll want to use the Solid Color Waterproofing Stain and Sealer instead. When using that stain, you can have light foot traffic in 24 hours and normal use in 72 hours. Good luck with your project! -Giovanna

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hi there, thank you for your question. As it turns out, we recommend using two coats of DeckOver to ensure that the product can provide its full durability and lifespan. Once the second coat is applied, you can topcoat that with our Solid Color House & Fence Stain if you'd like to change the finish.
