A:  The standard balcony rail kit comes complete to install to a maximum 47" horizontal space with 10 balusters, 47" handrail, floor connectors, and all hardware. To accommodate a smaller installation space as noted of 24", you will simply use less balusters (in this case 6 or 7 balusters placed 4" or less apart. The handrail has an aluminum flexible inner core surrounded by a cushioned sleeve that is easily cut to size with a hacksaw for a custom length. A:  The standard kit is 47" for an installation but multiple kits can be joined via the threaded handrail connector that is included in the kit. A:  The balusters are approximately 1" in diameter and can be spaced as needed. However, if you must meet the IRC building code for your planned project, the Kompact model will not meet all the requirements as established for "winder" staircase kits for code compliance.
