Q:I've owned the Cadet 3 model 4019 for a few years. The toilet has been filling every hour or so. I checked the flush valve and some gasket is all mushy and deteriorating. Is this normal? Its not really that old.

A:  The flappers deteriorate due to water conditions. You may contact customer service with your toilet model number to see if it is covered by a warranty.

Q:Any way to stop the flapper from "thumping/slamming" shut when the toilet is flushed. I push the flush lever, release, flapper opens, water flows and flapper "thumps/slams" shut. I have another cadet 3 unit that does not thump like this after flushing, otherwise, the unit is working well. Unit is ~2yrs old.

Q:I'm having trouble finding a Right Height, elongated bowl, 10" rough-in Cadet 3 locally, even special order. After looking over the spec sheets for all three rough-in sizes it appears that the model 3016-001 bowl may work in conjunction with any rough in dimension with tank offset being the only difference. If I purchase the 3016-001 bowl and 4019-016 tank, would I essentially end up with a 10" rough-in, Right Height, elongated bowl Cadet 3?

          Answer This Question

Q:Purchased two (2) Cadet 3 today, waiting for delivery. Was not really able to find out if they are "high performance flush" or "high efficiency" toilets. And not sure of the gallons per flush. Model # 2383.010.021.

A:  Smarter design for higher performance and fewer clogs – all at a great price. The Cadet® 3 series toilets come in a variety of styles; one piece and two piece models, elongated and round front bowls, right height and compact versions and even water efficient models that flush on just 1.28 gallons per flush. The Cadet 3 is a hard working versatile series with superior performance.

              A:  The 2386.010.222 is the correct combination number for a 10" rough-in Cadet3.

              by|May 2, 2023

A:  I would have to go back and see if the model no. you are asking about is the one I bought and just reviewed. I assume it is, so, yes, the 10" is the one we ordered. We first made an error in the store as we didn't know about rough openings. However, the Home Depot did not have the 10" rough, (it is a special order) so a salesman helped us find this one on the Home Depot website, and it was delivered to us by UPS. Then the H.D. plumbing contractor came to install it.

Q:I'm looking for a 10" rough-in, 16-17" seat ht and low low tank. Mother in law has osteoporosis and can NOT bend in half to urinate. Almost has to lay down to do so. She has hump in her upper back. so I thought low tank would be good. Can't seem to find it. do they exist? (we are all 6'1 or taller so we want the tall seat) We have that in there now, but she "misses" cuz the tall tank is in the way.

A:  part number doesn't really matter. you can purchase the flush valve from your local plumbing supply house by simply telling them "american standard cadet 3, 1.6 gpf flush valve assembly". they'll get it right. or simply email american standard.

                      by|Feb 8, 2018

A:  If you have a 1.6 gpf the flush valve number is 738921-0070A.
