If mineral deposits are occurring the best way to keep them from building up is to spray the diverter with a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and hot water. Let the mixture sit on the spout for about thirty minutes before cleaning it off. A:  This spout screws onto standard !/2 inch iron pipe.
