Answer This Question
A: Walnut grit is used to remove material from surfaces. If the doors are stained, then you will need a different product/process.

A: Ideal for cleaning engines, transmissions, and historical items, not sure about using this on wooden doors
by|Oct 18, 2019
A: I don't think it would help much on stain removal since the stain actually penetrates the wood. It would probably work on paint removal..

A: This product would work but it might be better to use sand mixed with black dirt. I am not sure if the ground walnut shells would run off faster when it rains than other organic materials.

A: I've never used it in this manner. Seems to me, this would only be a temporary fix because over time the shell would decay and you would be back where you started. I bought and used garden soil (not potting soil) to smooth some holes left in my yard after a tree removal.

A: We have not heard of it for that use and have not tested our grit in that use, so we do not recommend it for that application. Thank you for asking.

A: We've used this when sandblasting a stone wall and the only thing it didn't remove was the paint. The walnut shell in my opinion is not abrasive enough and just bounces off the paint.

Q:HI,
I have a 6 burner stove that has a porcelain finish around the burners that are covered with burnt on oil and food, ext. They are removable and we can only clean the surface buy hand a little. I want to blast them clean with out removing the porcelain, we have tried everything we can think of , every kind of BAR-B-Q & Stove cleaner, and even some commercial cleaners. but their is still a layer that won't come off.
Do you think the Walnut blasting shells would remove the burnt on stuff without pitting the porcelain? If so what grit would you recommend?
Thanks, Vernon

Answer This Question
A: The ground walnut shells will not damage porcelain. Porcelain is a very hard material.
I used this material on hard wood and it only removed the old finish. Keep in mind that the air pressure and contact time on the surface needs to be managed when blasting soft materials.

A: The product should not damage or effect porcelain. Porcelain is a very had material.

A: A trick for burners & BBQ grills is to put them in a black plastic leaf bag, spray with OvenOff, seal the end and let sit for 24 hours. Much of the grime with just hose off, but a little brushing or steel wool helps with the stubborn spots.
