A:  It's the same thing. High density polyethylene (HDPE) piping systems have been used for municipal and industrial water applications for over 50 years.

      A:  No

A:  It will fit loosely unless you wrap the end of the pipe along one rib with something (duct tape, electrical tape, outdoor insulation strip) to help make the cover hold in place. You could make it work. The Home Depot does carry 6 inch solid split end caps as well as 6 inch internal solid end cap. Search for those two on HomeDepot.com

Q:Having a heck of a time finding a lid for my septic clean out. Pipe is cast iron, 6 5/8” inner diameter and 7 3/4” outer diameter. Anyone know if this would work?

            Answer This Question

A:  No. Try finding a Fernco type (no hub) rubber cap for 8" pipe, cut a strip of tire to act as a bushing, wrap the tire strip around the cast iron, slide the cap over the assembly (use silicone grease if tight), and tighten the band clamp.

A:  I don't think that this will fit the way that you want. Due to snow and mud/dirt around mine I was only able to measure the exterior and the diameter is 9.5". Fits over 8" corrugated pipe which is likely an I.D. dimension.

              by|Jan 18, 2019

A:  It probably will since the inside of this cap has ridges which if it is too tight they can be sanded or filed down

A:  You could make it easier to remove by removing part of the inset tabs that latch onto the corrugations.

                    by|Jan 18, 2019

A:  Yes it is fairly easy to remove by hand.

A:  If the pipe is corrugated, should be no problem. Mine was to fit the clean out access to septic tank. Mine is REAL easy to remove, as I found this cap and ordered from my visual recollection of my pipe's diameter, which is closer to SIX (6) inches than the EIGHT (8) inch ID of this cap. But it's flexible, and keeping it ON more likely to be the problem than getting it OFF.

A:  Not as made but you could cut off the nibs to make it so.
