Q:Is the stem of the lamp also part of the touch sensor? I plan to place this lamp in a corner, beside a couch... and I will not be able to access the base of the lamp. Thanks!

A:  the touch sensor is on the stem of the lamp. touch the stem to activate the touch sensor. Use a 100 watt max incandescent bulb with this lamp. Do not use a 3 way bulb. Do not use an LED bulb as it is not compatible with the touch sensor.

        A:  Mine works great to touch the base and turn it on/off easily. I think you should return it for a working lamp if that's not working for you.
