A:  yes it is possible to modify the length but partial disassembly would be required.

A:  Look to Achim's website for installation instructions on this blind. Section 5 gives instructions for shortening the blind. I have not needed to shorten mine so I have no experience in doing so.

A:  yes you can close them without a wand. I love them.

A:  Yes they do tilt very nice blinds

A:  I bought these blinds, they tilt by manipulating the bottom bar. This isn't a precise method, you can overshoot the desired angle and change the length of the blind unintentionally. I don't recommend for a room where you'd want to change the angle of the blinds often.

A:  Top and blind material is plastic. Bottom is metal
