A:  The Cordless Kettle needs to be plugged into a standard outlet for operation. The cordless feature is for filling and pouring the water.

A:  Yes, this product does need to be plugged into a standard 110 volt plug.

A:  Dear MissP. The Aroma 6-cup kettle is referred to as being cordless because the kettle itself does not have a wire and plug. The base it sits on has the wire and plug. After the water boils, you lift the pot off the base and can bring it to the table. There are no batteries at all. Think of it as boiling a pot of water on the stove and then removing the pot to pour. So, yes, you need to plug the base into an electric outlet to heat the water.

A:  This item has an internal rechargeable battery that is not replaceable. The unit mounts in a corded 120 volt base to be charged.

A:  It's mostly stainless steel with few plastic parts.

A:  Dear BLoggingwench, (Love your handle.) The inside is stainless steel, except for the plastic windows and the underside of the lid. Also, inside the pot and near the bottom is a plastic rectangular box about 2" x 1" which is covering something. I think the light eminates from there.
