Q:How many gallons of water is this good for? I know they give a time period to replace it, though it's life is going to be a product of the water's flow-rate thru the system and not a fixed amount of time. So knowing the gallons of water it's good for would allow me to get the maximum life out of the filter and not be throwing it away when it's only halfway used and such!

Q:In my setup, I have a tankless in series after a tank water heater. I am not trying to be green, I am trying to ensure hot water consistently over long periods. I have this installed between the tank and tankless, so 120 degree water is running through the filter prior to the tankless to protect the tankless. Eventually. I will install it on the cold before all of it, but not right now. is this implementation useless, or dangerous in that it is over 100 degree max specification? Please don't lecture on implementation, just answer the question if you have the knowledge. Thanks!

A: The max temperature rating of 100 F is there to allow the media to dissolve at the manufacturers rating, as well as to protect the integrity of the plastic composite material. Higher temperatures for prolonged periods with negatively impact the structural integrity of the material, potentially causing failure of the material and then failure of the system which could lead to a serious to major water leak and water damage.

A: I have one installed coming into my hot water heater. I just change it every year. It's a bypass? filter so even if it's not working or working well it won't impede the water flow.

Q:Can this be put in with a water softner? If so does it go on before or after the softner?

A: Yes, you can put this on a water softener.
It won't hurt anything, but effectiveness depends on how your water treats the water.
If you do install it, I'd place it after the water softener. Personally, I'd install it as it can only help and not hurt
Hope that helps!

A: Yes it can and it is installed before the water softener
