Q:Why Is the fan just humming the first time I ever used it?

Answer This Question

A:  The fan should only run when the unit calls for it. If its humming and not running (spinning) then it appears there is an obstruction preventing the fan from turning. If no obstruction, then the unit is faulty.

A:  Hello! Please make sure the fan blade is not blocked by the float rod. The wick should hang on the lip at the back of the humidifier. If you continue to have issues, please email us at info@essickair.com. -Melissa, AIRCARE

A:  The fan has always had a mild hum. I think it is just what is typical of the mechanics of materials whirling around to produce the output. It is like a low level white noise but it seems worth it to me. I live in the desert and my skin feels so much better. I also purchased it because virus does not stay in the air as long or as well with a degree of humidity. I was really surprised at how much better my skin felt and I have a few house plants that are greatly appreciative as well. I have had it for over a year and it has been great.

Q:Can tap water be used or is distilled water required?

A:  Hi, Don. Poor water quality can greatly affect your wick’s performance. While using filtered or distilled water is not required, we do recommend distilled water if you notice issues with your wick. Adding our bacteriostat to your evaporative humidifier’s water can also help control bacteria growth and extend your wick’s life. Thanks! -Natalie, Team AIRCARE

A:  We have three of these in our custom home and have always used tap water with the recommended amount of Bacteriostat. We bought our first one about 5 years ago.

          Answer This Question

A:  Hello, Mark! CL means 'child lock.' To deactivate this setting, hold the power button down for five seconds, the CL will blink, and then clear from the screen. If the issue persists, follow the steps above, and then turn off the humidifier. Thanks! -Melissa, AIRCARE

A:  Hello Momma3Fox, Thank you for your question. Per the manufactures instructions for Bacteriostatic. When filling the humidifier, use 1/6 fluid ounce (approx. 1/8 capful) bacteriostatic treatment per gallon of water. A:  The unit holds 2 and 1/2 gallons in the tray and wick and the remainder in the removable tank

A:  There is no explanation - the tank only holds 2.5 gallons - that's it. Along with many other defects... I've had this unit for two days and it's going back to the store for a refund.

                  by|Feb 24, 2019

A:  That is very deceiving! You will still need to fill the bottle up everytime it gets empty, so the amount of water in the tank is a waste. Cause if you let the bottle and tank go empty and then you fill the bottle it's all going to drain out into the tank and then you can refill the bottle right away. So basically this is a 2.5 gallon unit.

A:  The instructions are unclear. After first use (wet wick) refill with two bottles full. The first will not totally empty, but refill anyway.

A:  Hi, Fred. Thank you for the question. The reservoir holds 2.9 gallons of water and the water bottles hold 2.5. Thanks, -Natalie, Essick Air Products

A:  I also wondered about this and the only answer I can come up with is there must be about the same capacity in the area the wick soaks from.

A:  Placing away from a heat exchange and at least 4 inches away from the wall on a level surface is an ideal setting for your humidifier. If you have extremely high ceilings, you may want to consider using a smaller unit in the upstairs area. The 3700 feet of coverage is based on tight construction.
