A: I doubt it would for more than a few minutes. Why don’t you buy the marking flags. HD sells them. They have the orange plastic flag and a very small diameter metal stick that goes into the ground about as wide as a pencil lead. Won’t hurt the grass at all It’s the same kind the utility companies use to mark existing lines but they usually have their own color coded flags

A: Hello - Thank you for asking. Very hot or cold temperatures and high humidity can contribute to reduced performance of the adhesive. Application temperatures vary for different types of tape, but most tapes will work well when the surface temperature is between 10°C and 37°C (50°F to 98.6°F.) If you have any additional questions or concerns, please connect with our team directly at 1-800-494-3552 Mo-Fri 8am-4:30pm CT.

Q:will this tape stick to black top drive
by|Sep 8, 2021

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your question, we would not recommend this product to be applied to a black top driveway as the adhesive will not likely hold. We would suggest looking at our 2060 Rough Surface Painter's Tape, which has a much stronger adhesive. If you have any additional feedback or questions, please feel free to reach out to our team at 1-800-494-3552 Mo-Fri 8am-4:30pm CT and reference your case number 26790474.

Q:Will this work for exterior painting, particularly a wooden shed. I have a bunch of it already so didn't know if I would see a large difference by purchasing the exterior (2097) tape.

A: Some variables ~ outside sheds can be built out of many "wood" products. On our "wood" shed the side panels are different than the doors. We "wiped" the areas, damp cotton terry rag with mild vinegar & water solution, (let dry 100%) to be taped to get rid of "dust/dirt". Applied the tape ~ painted immediately. Then removed the tape after an hour. We are in Indiana so we followed the sun to expedite the paint's drying time. We did the same on our shed doors in 2 colors. We did not purchase the exterior tape as we had a sleeve of interior tape left.

A: I'm a big believer in using up existing supplies before purchasing more, especially if they might deteriorate in quality if kept for a long time. Tape is like that. Having said that, I would try it.
Here's a tip I got from a very good painter:
After you apply the tape, run a tiny bead of clear paintable caulk along the edge and smear it to a feather edge. This will seal that line completely so that when you remove it you'll have a crisp line with no paint bleeding under. This step takes just a small amount of time, much less than going back to clean up your lines later.

A: This will work fine outside as long as temps are above 50. In colder temps the tape doesn't release as well when removed

A: I cannot answer what the quality is on the tape you have. Obviously numerous factors will come into play: age, extreme exposure to the elements or temperature changes, humidity, dust, dirt, to name a few. Merely try it and see how it is on a small, discrete area.

A: It generally works fine on exterior surfaces. Just remove it after the paint drys.

A: I would suggest you just try using it on a small area and see if you get the desired results.
Depending on the age and condition of the wooden shed it might not make that much of a difference. Since you already have a bunch of it you really have nothing to loose other than the time to redo the small area.

A: It will work. Anymore I just get a good quality cut in brush and forget the taping. Often times paint will bleed under the tape. With a cut in brush you can see what you are doing. Takes a little practice but I think it is faster and you get more predictable results.
