A:  they're dust caps to keep out debris. turn the set screw to close the water source. the vertical line should be perpendicular to the line of the valve.

A:  No. Has a removable tag on it that says NOT lead free and not for potable water

A:  It is the exact replacement of the one installed by a licenced sprinkler installer. I would hope it was approved for back flow preventer in a residential water system. However, it could be a knock off. I have the original box it came in with and I can check back after work.

A:  This backflow device is solid cast bronze with stainless steel fittings. (is there lead in the bronze? I have no idea..) check out the Wilkins 720a, on the Zurn web site for more specs about the product.. But this is pretty much the "standard backflow " device that most sprinkler installers use on their jobs. A:  This is a back flow prevention valve only. It does not have a feature to regulate pressure.

A:  Yes, this valve has both functions.

A:  this is not a double check... its a pressure backflow valve.. double checks actually have two backflow prevention breakers in line. (but they are not pressure breakers).. just goggle double check valves, you will see the difference..

A:  I couldn't find this in stock at any home depot, so I had to order in online via Home Depot... showed up in 2 days... not a problem..
