Questions and Answers for Oatey 32 oz. Dark Thread Cutting Oil

A:  You posted this on the app. The app always shows which aisle a product is in. Although, you have to first click on the store - where it says “x items in XYZ store.”

A:  Not for use on stainless steel or a soft metal for example aluminum, refer to manufacture of the paper shredder for approved lubricants.

A:  Don’t know never tried but guessing it wouldn’t be good it’s a metal cutting oil

A:  No. Oatey does not have a product for that application.

A:  You don't need oil to cut glass.

A:  Yes will work great

A:  Are you using a drill press? I wouldn't attempt with a hand drill. You can't have high rpms like a hand drill provides and you need the force from a drill press to get a chip started into the steel. If it's a regular hole saw like you get at a hardware store you probably will burn it up real fast. They aren't made for steel. This oil is a heavy sulfur oil. I've used it for cutting threads in metal or threading steel pipe.

A:  Yes, it will help lubricate and cool.

A:  This is designed for use with machines for threading pipe. We have not tested it for this application.

A:  I don't know why not

A:  Oatey's Dark Thread Cutting Oil is formulated with activated sulfur to wet, lubricate and cool dies in high speed/RPM cutting machines. Shouldn't be an issue on stainless.

A:  Yes. It helps drill bits bite into the metal while keeping it cooler and the thick fluid reduces the shavings from flinging out

A:  I called the number and they said that since it is a "petroleum" base, it is harder for it to be absorbed through the skin, so it is not considered harmful. It has, so far, only been deemed harmful if inhaled.

A:  I can try to answer, I used mine outdoors cutting a steel drum with a reciprocating saw and a 3 inch hole saw. Had heat and smoke due the the cutting with a ryobi hammer drill, but did not smell anything noxious or out of the norm. If i had to use it in the house, I would. But I guess it would depend on how much cutting you were doing

A:  I never noticed a strong odor while using it.

A:  No strong odor, but I used it outside.

A:  It does have an order but not as strong as others I've used.

A:  If I recall right its sulfer based so it stinks.
