Q:Is this trim good for starting a fire in my fireplace?
by|Nov 12, 2020

Answer This Question

A:  Well, if it is wood, it will burn, but personally I would not put any painted wood in a fireplace. Who knows what gasses would come off of it?

by|Nov 13, 2020

A:  Wood burns yes, but it had paint and glue on it or in it.

by|Jan 30, 2021

A:  Yes, it is dry enough. It is a soft wood, good for kindling but will burn quickly. An expensive alternative to other options.

by|Nov 14, 2020

A:  Not indoor the paint could be toxic

by|Aug 29, 2022

A:  It will burn. Lots of cheaper options. Like that old coffee table.

Answer This Question

A:  No primer is stainable..buy the bare wood trim.

by|Oct 28, 2020

A:  Paintable yes, stainable no. The oil based stains would not soak in. Other stains would coat but not resemble the stain color.

by|Nov 14, 2020

A:  No this is paint grade primer for paint only it will not accept stain and look good

by|Oct 29, 2020

A:  Definitely NOT.cfwn. wrong profile.

by|May 28, 2020

A:  I purchased 4 packets and used for window casing only.

by|Jul 9, 2020

A:  This particular design is used for doors and windows. I do not believe I've used this for crown molding. However, I've seen images where people do use it for crown molding depending on the person.

      A:  It has multiple uses

Q:Could this be used in place of base shoe moulding or 1/4 round moulding after installing a laminant floor ? Thanks in advance.

      Answer This Question

A:  It could be used that way but it would not have a sharp 90 degree corner along the floor. This casing has rounded corner. Unless it matches the baseboard in the rest of the house I’d look at smaller baseboard.

      by|May 14, 2020

A:  Yes, I suggest a bead of caulk with the baseboard

      by|Dec 15, 2020

A:  yes, it much nicer looking too

        Answer This Question

A:  I don’t see why not. You would have to cut the boards to size anyhow with a door frame unless it were the exact same size, which is almost never the case.

        by|Apr 29, 2020

A:  Sure can..really no different than a door frame..but it does depend on how big your window is..miter the trim the same way 45 degree angle.

          by|Apr 28, 2020

A:  Absolutely, you can use this as window casing. In our late-80s house, this casing profile is used around all the doors and all the windows - a pretty common style for that time period. It's cut in 45-degree miters around doors or windows - like a picture frame. In our house it's also used for the baseboards. It makes repairing or installing molding simple when it's all the same kind.

          by|May 1, 2020

          A:  Yes.

          by|May 2, 2020

A:  It is larger than typical base or door moulding but you can do whatever you like in your place.

Q:From a style perspective, do these match well with modern doors? Or are these meant for traditional craftsman style homes?

            Answer This Question

A:  They can be used for both modern and traditional styles. My home was built in 1989 but we've been slowly bringing it to the 21st century by updating various elements. They'd go well with open door frames as well as glass doors.

            by|Aug 12, 2019

A:  in a ultra modern home I’d say no but if your mixing modern with simple traditional looks you’ll be fine, they are fairly subtle anyway.

              by|Aug 13, 2019

A:  I used this style with modern doors

                by|Aug 9, 2019

A:  Yes, this style of casing works well with most doors. We originally had all flat doors in our house with these moldings, and they looked fine. Later, we upgraded all the doors to a 6-panel Craftsman style, and they still look great. Note - typical Craftsman moldings are square and don't involve rounded profiles or lots of curves and ornamentation. So, if you want the full Craftsman effect, you normally wouldn't use these.

                by|Aug 12, 2019

A:  More for modern doors, but look ok in older houses too. Depends on your taste
