This heat gun appears to be a rebranded Earlex HG2000 that HD used to sell (Wagner acquired Earlex in 2013). The Earlex is well reviewed and receives 5 stars from reviewers on HD... so I hope that this gun performs as well as when it went by a different name. Used it today for a few hours doing shrink tubing and it performed well and was very intuitive to use. I actually also purchased a Porter Cable online which I'll be returning. The PC is a fine gun with really nice rubberized stabilizers and a variable heat adjustment dial. This "new" Wagner wins because of digital control temp settings, five speed settings, five year warranty and the dedicated cool down setting. The only two improvements I would suggest is 1) adding rubberized material to surface contact areas (like the PC) to prevent slippage when using hands-free (as a safety feature); and 2) adding the auto-cool/shut-off feature from the Wagner HT3500 (again for safety). With it's pedigree, the included accessories and case, this heat gun represents an excellent value.
