36 in. x 80 in. Lexington Almond Surface Mount Steel Security Door with Shatter-Resistant Glass and Nickel Hardware

I recommend this door only because it is a good looking security door and is well built...mostly. But it is not easy to install. I had a professional door contractor I have used in many previous projects do the install. It took him over 6 hours. Some of that time was due to the jamb itself needing some modification but most was assembly and fitting of the door and threshold itself. Once up it looks great and while maybe not as secure as a full bar door with a double cylinder lock (this door's inside cylinder is the kind you can open by hand which means if someone could breach the resistant glass it can be opened) it does offer the compromise of reasonably increased security while allowing a good view through glass which was the point of my getting this particular door. My one major gripe is the steel security lattice itself. No clear silicone or rubber standoff bumpers are provided so the lattice vibrates very noisily every time the door is opened or closed...not a good design. The simple solution would have been to design and incorporate clear silicone standoff bumpers to go between the lattice and the glass. Instead I had to search to find adhesive-based standoffs that were tall and wide enough...3/4" x 3/4"... to solve this problem. Not easy to find! Without the standoffs the "roar" of the vibrating lattice not only can be heard throughout the house but from the driveway! Overall this door is acceptable for its purpose.

I like the design of the door but I thought the frame would be a lot stronger. Kind of flimsy and makes a sound every time I close the door.

The Door is Beautiful as long as you don't need to use it much! The lock on the door I have to twist it many times just to lock or unlock the door. I always find myself double checking it to make sure it's locked. Otherwise, It's a beautiful door!

I WAS HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SO CALL SPECIAL ORDER. MY LOCK WAS NOT SHIPPED WITH THE SECURITY DOOR, NOT SO SECURE WITHOUT THE LOCK. THEN I WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE 3 WEEKS TO GET THE LOCK FOR THE DOOR. THE DOOR WAS INSTALLED AND DID NOT REALIZE THE LOCK WAS MISSING UNTIL AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED. THIS DOOR IS MADE OF SHEET METAL IN THE MIDDLE PORTION, VERY FLEMSY . THIS DOOR WAS TAKEN DOWN AND RETURNED., UNIQUE HOME DESIGN PRODUCTS ARE CHEAPLY MADE. DO NOT PURCHASE. HOME DEPOT NEED TO STOP CARRYING THEIR PRODUCTS, BECAUSE IT IS MAKING HOME DEPOT LOOK BAD.....

I had my door up for almost 2 weeks and the handle broke. I'm in the process with Home Depot to get it replaced. Frustrating when you pay over $400 for a product. Seems to me the quality should have been a whole lot better. Hopefully they will replace the handle. We will see.

I purchased this door in May 2012. The lock gradually stopped working. I contacted the company, they sent a new lock, handle assembly and it once again started malfunctioning. First the latch, then the handle. I began to think I was going to get locked out of the house because the handle would stick and the key wouldn't turn the lock. On Christmas a relative opened the door and the handle completely fell apart. Sooo again I have to call them and try to get a new handle and lock. The door is nice but the handle and lock are junk. Also the placement of the door handle is too close to the edge of the door. My sister cut her finger because of this flaw. Also it is NOT rust proof.

The door handle hardware has broken twice. The first time it was replace (after a month) I'm still working on the second one.
