Q:Is this a left handed tool? It looks like it. Or does the blade change around for a right handed cut?

      Answer This Question

A:  The blade can be changed for either left or right hand cutting.

      by|May 5, 2023

A:  I think you could use either hand. I am right handed. If you Google the product there is an excellent You Tube video. I pull for the side cut and then push for the top cut (from the face of the ceiling tile).

        by|May 5, 2023

A:  You can flip it and use it anyway you like if you flip the tile you are working as well.

          by|May 5, 2023

A:  I'm right handed and had no trouble using the tool. In fact, I don't see how a left handed person could use it. The metal is formed so the blade can only go in one way on the angle as shown in the picture.

Q:My question was answered, blades are specific to tool. Now where does one purchase blades. Home Depot sells tool, but has no listing for blades, tool kind of useless unless blades can be purchased.

A:  I think it is the standard utility knife blade. It comes with a pack of ten. I am still on the first tile blade.

A:  The pictures of the tool you are purchasing shows that the tool comes with the blades needed to use it. Mine did not. My tool came standard utility knife blades, not the square blades needed to use it. This was a waste of time and money for me. I now have a tile cutting tool that I can not use.

                      by|May 5, 2023

A:  The blades used are not standard utility blades; they have a square hole in the middle. That square hole allows the tool to be adjusted for depth control of the cut using the thumbscrew (which passes through blade). The tool comes with 10 blades that can flipped over "20 blade tips". The blades are a blue steel, which will hold an edge longer but the edge will not be as fine, more industrial usage than a standard utility blade and better suited for ceiling tiles. 5 pack of refill blades available on Homedepot.com PN: TP01055

There are many tiles made of very different materials. If you are using tiles that mark easily, try putting a strip of masking paper along the side you are cutting. Then you will not mark the tile. Sorry for the problem! Miguel toolpro

Works great. Just go slow, and change the blade often.

Like most tools, a fair amount of practice and technique is required to get results. Practice on some scraps and it will work for you. Miguel toolpro
