17" Medium Black Laptop Bag with Quick Access, Shoulder Strap, ClipTech hub and padded device pocket

WOW, this is one tough bag. I bought it to primarily hold my laptop, but I have so much stuff in it, it's kinda heavy. Thank goodness for the shoulder strap. Inside, is a divider to keep the laptop protected and away from the other contents. In the top there is a storage pocket inside that will hold the charger and wireless mouse. I'm really thinking of also getting the smaller on to go with it.

This bag has a lot of different pockets with Velcro flaps it is very versatile. I have a 17" laptop and it fits okay. I probably would add a little more padding if I use this bag as a carry on. The bag has so much room to store items if I did fill it up it probably would be quite heavy, but still it is a very secure bag. I like the quality of the construction and the zippers. it also has a hard bottom.

This is a very heavy duty laptop bag. It's got lots of pockets and has a side pocket with a window for your ID. It's kind of heavy, weighing in at a little over 5 pounds including the shoulder strap, which is adjustable and removable. Its definitely sturdy enough to protect your laptop. It has one inside divider. I wish it had a couple more. The zipper can accommodate a padlock if desired.

This review is for the ToughBuilt model TB-EL-1-M2 "quick access" laptop bag. I was granted the opportunity to check out the ToughBuilt and, since I'm a semi-retired I.T. consultant I figured I would take a look. The bag is designed to hold laptops up to 17", and comes with a padded, detachable shoulder strap as well as a sewn in hand carry strap. The hand carry strap is in two sections which can be secured as a single handle using an attached hook-and-loop system. ToughBuilt notes that this model is compatible with "ClipTech" pouches; however, I cannot address that feature because I don't have a "ClipTech" pouch. The unit is designed in the U.S. but is manufactured offshore. There is a limited lifetime warranty on the bag. The lid to the laptop storage portion of the bag secures with a heavy duty zipper - the type found on tool bags. Inside the lid is a compartment (also secured by a zipper) that will hold a laptop power cord and "wall wart" charging unit. (YMMV, depending on the type of charger your laptop uses; my charger fits in the compartment just fine). Under the lid is a compartment for holding the laptop which is secured by hook-and-loop and a second compartment for holding files, legal pads, etc. On the front exterior of the bag there are three pockets, all secured by hook-and-loop. I prefer zippers for external pockets because they are harder for thieves to open when going through crowds; a hook-and-loop fastner doesn't require much time or skill to open and, in a crowd, the noise made by opening the fastner may not be noticed. However this is, in my opinion, not a downcheck of the bag; many prefer the hook-and-loop because it is so easy to access when carrying the bag on one's shoulder. The three pockets are spacious; the largest one is approximately 10" tall by 8" wide by 1" deep and the two smaller pockets are approximately 5" tall, 6" wide and 1" deep. There are no pen or pencil loops in any of the pockets of the bag. I would like to have seen at least two loops or small pockets for holding pens or pencils or markers. However on the right side of the bag there is a separate pocket which may be used for such utensil storage. It looks like a cell phone pocket for a flip-phone - my smartphone is too wide to fit into the pocket. Pens and pencils fit nicely (although a full length #2 lead pencil is a bit too long) as does a precision type screwdriver (for removing hard drives, etc.). There is a transparent pocket for a business card or "belongs to" card on the pocket cover. Above that side pocket there is a tape measure clip; I find that that clip is quite tight but usable for a small tape measure. To be more useful the clip should be further away from the shoulder strap swivel. Again, not a down check - most of the bags I have seen or used over my career haven't given even a token thought to a tape measure so ToughBuilt scores with this feature. On the back side of the bag is a compartment well suited for carrying legal pads, manila folders, etc., that may be accessed without having to open the bag. Again, there is no provision for storing a pen or pencil which, to me, would seem an obvious feature to build in to a pocket designed to carry paperwork. The bottom of the bag is protected by two rubber feet. There are two logos on the bag, one on the shoulder strap and one on the lower pocket on the front of the bag. Neither logo is, I think, large enough to be considered detrimental to the appearance of the bag. Fit and finish is great - stiching is well done, the zippers are of good quality, and the hook-and-loop fasteners are all well stitched into the bag fabric. The three front pockets have small rubber "pulls" on them for opening the hook-and-loop straps. Not a "must have", but still a thoughtful feature. There is substantial padding on all sides of the laptop pocket and the bag itself is no lightweight unit. I do not have a scale that will weigh the unit but it is heavier empty than either my "regular" store bought laptop bag or my "most used" messenger bag. There are, of course, a myriad of choices when it comes to choosing a laptop bag - but for gear protection while still allowing the bag contents to be readily accessible, I think the ToughBuilt bag is well conceived and well executed. The market price point is, I think, competitive considering the quality and features of the bag. HTH Regards, Jim

I'm actually really impressed with this bag! I expected a simple large bag, and it is, but the construction of the bag is also very study and it feels really durable. The title is "laptop bag" but it is so much more. I took a picture of the inside, there is a great padded pocket for a laptop or notebooks/papers. But there is also a large interior and large exterior pockets. The style of the bag is simple enough to be used for anything, but the durability and sturdiness of the bag allows for it to be a tool/work bag as well.

Perfect for “tough” tablets or coputer equipment, loads of storage where you dont expect.

I needed a case to take my laptop to potential kitchen/bath cabinet jobs that was tough and could also carry my paperwork, samples, and measuring tools. This is exactly what I needed and it was the cheapest I could find of the products on the market that was of this size.
