Q:Will this sump pump fit in a 10 inch diameter sump hole?

Answer This Question

A:  It will be tight

by|Jan 4, 2019

A:  Yes it will, but you have to make sure that the float does not rub against the sump hole sides. It will not only not turn the pump on but will also wear down and eventually not work.

A:  Hi there, Yes it will and it will work well for you. Thanks

Q:what is the circumference of the base of this pump?

    Answer This Question

A:  Hi Ellie, The base is kind of tear-drop shaped and with the vertical float switch you will need about 9" diameter area for this pump to set in and be able to work without the float switch getting stuck on something. Thanks

Strong, Heavy Duty with good pressure
Out of the box this sump pump is very impressive. It has adequate weight to keep it place after you position it in the sump pump basin. It includes a handle on top for lowering it into position. The 10ft cord is a nice length to make it to the outlet and finally I am excited about the sliding vertical float switch. As long as you set the pump to one side of the basin and it has adequate clearance for the sliding vertical float switch, there should be no issues with this pump turning on and off when necessary. I am replacing a 1/8 HP pump with this 1/2 horsepower, I think the pumping volume should be more than adequate. The specifications are listed on the side of the box. As you can see, the shorter the run to get rid of the water...the better. I think my last pump failed because there wasn't enough room for the tether float switch to float and it failed to turn on or just lack of horsepower. I am not sure. Cons 1) I am a little bit concerned about the how long the cast iron base will last before it starts to rust. 2) The pump did not include ANY of the fittings necessary to hook it up to the exhaust pipe. I have purchased other pumps in the past that included the adapter fitting that connects directly to the pump. I am as excited as you can get about a new sump pump. Remember, don't skimp when it comes to you sump pump. The few $$$ you save will not compare to the mess you may come home to if you sump pump doesn't do it's job. *** Installation note *** I highly recommend installing a check valve in your system.

A STRONG AND NICELY BUILT SUMP PUMP
This submersible cast iron pump has some heft to it which will keep it positioned in center of sump hole and not move around. It has features such as an easy grab handle, clog resistant impeller and 10 foot cord. Installation of this SUPERIOR PUMP sump pump was not difficult once the old pedestal style sump pump was removed. I removed old PVC pipe at threaded connection and old pump. I replaced old section of pipe with new PVC pipe and I also installed a one way brass valve and an easy disconnect PVC union to make future removal of sump pump quick and easy. After putting everything together and testing it out I am very pleased with this 1/2 HP sump pump and believe it should last for many years.

      Very Nice
This is a very nice heavy duty pump , vertical float switch. The cast iron base is solid and heavy enough to keep it in place when installed in the sump. The power cord is 10 feet . I am using this to build a underground rain water collection sump. All my gutter downspouts are diverted to a large sump with the sump pump installed . The water is then pumped in my storage tank. For my application I hard wired the power cord as I need a longer run to my protected power supply. Testing ,the float switch works great but I wish it would let the pump work all the way down to the bottom of the cast pump assembly. Having the cast be in water all the time might not be a good thing if there is inactive times like summer . It has a good finish so I expect it will give me a good service life. It has enough discharge pressure to lift the water into my tank into the top at 5 feet and a 20 foot run at around 60 gallons a minute . Specs on the pump are 70 gallons a minute with no lift and goes down to 10 gallons at 25 feet. The 1/2 motor is designed for continuous duty so large volumes of water can be moved. Whatever your use this is a heavy duty unit. Be sure to pick up fittings 1 1/2 NPT , discharge hose and a check valve to properly install . For my application if the float switch was able to go lower I would have given it 5 stars across the board.

      Sturdy, well built, and QUIET
I bought this Superior 1/2 horsepower cast iron pump to replace my previous Superior 1/2 Hp thermoplastic sump pump. This new cast iron version is MUCH quieter when it runs. I appreciate the quietness since the pump is in my basement underneath my bedroom. It is plenty powerful moving almost a gallon of water per second up an 8 foot basement wall and out to my streets city sewer which is 70 feet away from my house. No more laying in bed listening to my pump cycling on and off, its silent.

        Failed in under 4-years
Sump pump was not built for longevity. Seals failed in under 4-years, which caused the breaker to trip and pump failed to operate. I’ve had other brands last 10+ years which made the short life of this sump pump all the more disappointing. Thankfully I had a backup Simer sump pump I was able to install before the basement flooded very much.
