If your digital thermostat only requires two wires, then this will be perfect. Some furnace applications require four or more wires. Remove your old thermostat from the wall and see how many wires are Required.If your old thermostat was working you can reuse the old wire.

A:  No, you should use whatever wiring you already have installed. Generally no new thermostat wiring is needed for a new wi fi thermostat. Unless none exists.
