WOW what a great edger! I have owned various 2-cycle and electric edgers and this one is by far the best I have owned. I have had several electric edgers that did a good job but I was tired of dealing with the wire of a corded unit. I did a lot of research and found that the 2-cycle units were hard to start, under powered when dealing with heavy compacted soil, and did not last long. This is just what I found with my own older units. Cordless units where under powered by their owners reviews and most were not happy with the length of battery life when using the unit to edge. The 4 cycle units were very expensive. Then I saw the Southland unit on the Home Depot site at a reasonable price. I tried to find on-line reviews of this unit and could not find any. I was concerned because I was not familiar with this brand and it was far less expensive than the other 4-cycle units on the market. (to good to be true?) I decided to take a chance and I purchased this unit anyway. Boy am I glad I did. This unit is built very strong and has many adjustments to make edging easy. It starts on about the second pull. It has a lot of power to cut through the hard soil. Most 2-cycle units are only in the 22 - 26 cc range. This unit is 79cc. It does not seam to use much gas and the oil level has not gone down at all. It also has a full handle that is attached to both sides of the unit just like a mower. This is important to help guide the unit and maintain safety when using it on the curb or uneven gound. (Some others on the market only have a T or partial handle attached only to one side of the unit making them not as stable when operating.) I am very pleased with this unit and hope the engine continues to last a long time. I have no fears of the rest of the unit will last a long time, as it built like a tank but is not too heavy. One small design item I would like to point out is the rear wheel knob (to adjust the height of the right side wheel for curb adjustment) is awkward for me. I would prefer that the knob was out in the open more facing the rear of the unit. But this is minor and the rest of the design of this unit is exceptional for ease of use and adjustments. FYI All nuts and bolts are metric in size.
