The MR-318 Remote Controllable Wire-In On/Off Control Module is designed to operate a 600-Watt load at 120-Volt of alternating current (120VAC) for either incandescent, CFL, florescent tubes, or small appliances. To use the MR-318 simply wire the device in-line with the lighting fixture you wish to control. Once properly installed, you will be able to wirelessly turn on and off lights or appliances powered by the receiver module from a variety of SkyLinkHome transmitters. To achieve remote control over the MR-318 from a wireless transmitter, you must first program the wire-in module to be a responder of that transmitter. The programming is a very simple process done with the set buttons located on the switch and on the transmitter. The SkyLinkHome System comprises a variety of wireless sensors, wireless remotes and wire-in and plug-in lighting or appliance controls. All wireless communication between SkyLinkHome devices is based on rolling code technology. This ensures the highest security for your wireless signals being transmitted.

This is exactly what I was looking for to install an on/off switch on a tile backsplash where there was no box. The objective was to control 2 new LED downlights that I installed over the kitchen sink area. You need 2 SkylinkHome products, both available from Home Depot: Wireless Wall Switch Model # 204177908 and 600-Watt Module Receiver Relay Output Model # 204177948 The Receiver Module fits nicely into a single-gang box that I secured to the inside top of the cabinet closest to the new LED lights. This location enabled me to pull the Romex feed into the box, and the output Romex to the LED lights by drilling into the top of the cabinet from the attic space. In addition to the White/Black/Red wires, there is a Gray antenna wire. Route it out through one of the remaining holes in the box and don't cut it shorter. Instructions indicate that you should keep this as straight as possible, but I have had no problems bending it and tucking it into a seam at the top of the cabinet. Put a label on the blank cover plate of the single-gang box indicating which breaker feeds it. The Wireless Wall Switch came with the usual drywall anchors and 2 pieces of double-stick tape that I used to adhere the switch to the tile. Since this switch has no direct connection to the house wiring, you can place it anywhere you want with no shock hazard. Before I did that, I carried the switch outside to see how far away I could get and still control the lights. At least several hundred feet! Both units come with good instructions that you must use to pair the switch to the receiver. In summary, each time you cycle power to the Receiver Module, it emits a beep and for a few seconds it enters the "programming mode". You only have to do that once (if all you have is one switch). You do not have to repeat the programming even if power is left off for an extended period. The receiver "remembers" the switch. The relay output from this receiver means that it does not dim (there are other modules for that) and it also means that you can operate almost any lighting technology without flicker and at full brightness. The output acts as a latching relay, meaning that power is only used to transition from on-to-off, or from off-to-on. Here's a useful fact: if you turn the breaker off, then toggle the switch while the breaker is off, when you turn the breaker back on the switch will behave opposite to what you expect; i.e., off will be on and on will be off. To remedy this, merely turn off the breaker, toggle the switch one time, turn the breaker back on and all will be normal. These units have been in operation since September 2016. Not a hitch, not a hiccup and no need to replace the coin cell battery in the switch. Again, it only consumes power for a second when the switch is toggled. Great product!
