Q:Why is this not for use with solar powered fixtures?

    Answer This Question

A:  The photocell requires 120 volts hardwired connection to operate. A solar fixture would not operate the photocell that's included with this specific pole.

A:  This listing for for a pole that includes a photocell, there is no “lamp”. If you do not want a photocell, then, you should buy a pole without the photocell.

A:  i would say yes, but there are predrilled holes for the sensor and the electrical outlet, so you would have to install the sensor on the lamp without connecting it to the electrical source. I put mine in two years ago, but as I remember there were a number of lamp options that did not have sensors. You might want to consider those instead. Also, there were LED options, and my sensor requires incandescent lighting.

A:  I'm pretty sure you can just bypass the sensor in the pole, and just wire the power directly to the lamp. Of course, you need to have the lamp on a separate line with a switch inside your house. You might want to wire it to be able to turn off the power to the outside light, but still wire it through the sensor. That way, the sensor and light only work when the switch is on.

              Warning. DON'T PURCHASE.
This pole completely disinegrated at the base & fell over in just over 90 days. (Last pole we had in there lasted 50 years) I'm not the first reviewer who had this issue. Manufacturer refuses to replace despite warranty. They blame it on us saying we must have put a chemical in the soil around it. Wrong. The soil in that area had been removed and new fresh soil installed. Now they won't even respond to requests. So stay away. We're not only out the cost of the pole, but the cost of installation.

We are very sorry for your experience, but that was a chemical reaction on the pole from a substance, most likely a fertilizer or pesticide. Aluminum responds a specific way to specific chemicals, and the fact is that this was a chemical reaction. Furthermore, we do respond to all customer questions, comments or requests, and we do not see any open communication. Please contact us and we will try to assist.

                  Decaying ploe
I purchased two light poles 8 months apart and both of them rotted at the botton and my light pole fell over.

This is an aluminum post that is powder coated. There must be some highly corrosive compound that the pole is being exposed to for this type of decay to occur. Is the post being soaked daily in commercial fertilizer or pesticides? Our suggestion is to contact us and let us try to troubleshoot this situation with you.

                    Pieces missing?
Nice pole, but there are holes for the photo eye and the plug in, which are great. On the pole I received, there were holes on both sides of the pole for the photo eye - did they think we couldn't figure out how to turn the pole?? And, there is no grommet/cover for the side left open... So, today, I'm heading to the hardware store for a cover to try to keep the weather and critters out...frankly that should have been either included, or they should eliminate one hole.
