Ok, let me start by saying I've read all the reviews for this thing...good and bad. There are a few things I would like to point out that may help someone else out who is on the fence about buying a 4 cycle trimmer. First thing first: it's not a 2 stroke therefore you cannot treat it like a 2 stroke. READ THE MANUAL before you start it for the first time. You do NOT have to touch the throttle when starting this machine. Just pump the primer bulb 10x's and set the choke to start and pull. You have to let it warm up for at least a good 30 seconds before you try to give it any gas. I usually let mine go for about a min. Trust me it's worth it, if you try to gas it before it's warm, the engine will die and you will possibly flood it which will make it hard to restart. Once it's warmed up and you give it some gas it comes alive. It sounds mean and has some serious power. Also, when your done you must store it horizontally. Once again it's not a 2 cycle. If you store it up right, the oil will leak to the top of the piston and it will be really hard to start, and gas will leak out of the carb. It must be stored horizontally. Also, if you find it running kinda rough, check the spark plug gap. If the plug gap is not set properly it will not run good. I had a blower that I bought brand new from sears(4 cycle) and the spark plug gap was way off when I got it and the blower didn't want to run at all. So I suggest checking the gap prior to starting for the first time. It should be set at .025 I have no problems with cold or hot starts with mine. I usually just leave the choke set to "run" and it'll start after about 2 or 3 pulls. This is a great trimmer but it does take a little more work than a 2 cycle, but it's worth it to me.
