A:  not sure what type of water heater you had before but it is a must to use this top vent for your Rheem water heater . it is very possible this is why you are not getting any pressure . we tried using our old gas water heater vent top and the heater kept shutting down but we never checked the water pressure . to us this was the big draw back on this water heater to where other ones you can use straight PVC piping to vent . hope this helps

A:  The Rheem needs the special vent cap because it actually sucks in combustion air from outside. The piping from the heater all the way to the cap is also specified.

A:  Im not sure but the vent pipe has to be the proper one to allow for venting and condensation. I tried without the proper cap and wouldn’t stay lit when it tried to actually ignite it would go out.

A:  Thank you for asking. This concentric vent termination is specifically designed for tankless water heaters.

A:  No this is designed for the tankless water heater. A tank type water heater doesn’t require the high temperature cap.

A:  This concentric vent terminator likely could work with a tank type of water heater if it has 3" exhaust, but is likely more expensive than what is normally used for a tank type water heater. The idea of concentric venting is that it makes the hot exhaust safer if you duct the cold intake around it. But only a tankless has a fan driven combustion system that really can take full advantage of a concentric system. You might get some advantage from using concentric ducting for a tank type water heater, but it likely is not worth the extra cost. If nothing else, this concentric ducting requires a 5" hole.
