      • Inexpensive way to strengthen door

While it takes a little bit of work to install this as you will have to mortise out a rather large area for the plate to fit flush, it's a very inexpensive way to substantally strengthen a door against kick-ins. As long as you have a solid wood door (or metal door) along with a decent deadbolt and door edge guard (e.g. U 9567), this should go a long ways towards making your door much harder to kick in. So for about $20 for this double strike plus the door edge guard (assuming you have a decent deadbolt and door and a few common tools) - you can be a lot safer! You will need a good wood chisel, power drill, 1/8 inch bit to drill pilot holes for screws, hammer, and screwdriver (philips or bit for drill). Also, having a Dremel or similar tool is helpful to smooth out the surfaces and edges once you are done chiseling. Always use a dust mask and eye protection when doing this kind of work!
