A: These stair treads are ideal for outdoors since they are waterproof so they won't be damaged by water or snow. Backing grips on the floor for the most part but you can use double sided grip tape for extra grip.

A: Hi, it's fairly easy to install. You just lay the stair treads on your steps. Rubber backing minimizes movement. If you wish to further secure your treads, we recommend the use of double sided tape for outdoor use or glue.

Very nice

One thing I hate is feeling wooden steps beneath bare feet and at home I am in my bare feet all the time. The stairs to my basement are just plain wood with worn out paint and I didn't want to paint them every year or so. Plus, it's easier to slip on when your shoes are wet or a bit muddied. These stair treads look good and feel good on my feet because of the nice weave they have. They also make me feel safe as they don't feel slippery like some fabric stair treads. The nap is close and thick and the backing is rubber for a good non slip base to the stairs. I use double back tape, though, because I like a little more security. I like these treads.

Added Safety And Good Looks

The Ottomanson Livesaver Black 8" x 30" Black Latex Back Stair Tread Cover comes in a set of 14 - which for me meant enough for both front and back stairs as well as a spot at work. They are nicely textured on the top and the bottom latex back has a firm grip without being sticky. These are ideal for any exterior stairs, and I like both their appearance and the added protection for the entry ways.

Improve traction on the stairs

Our puppy dog has learned to go up the stairs but doesn't go down. She is getting bigger and we are getting older. Carrying her down isn't fun. We thought we would try these as an inexpensive alternative to carpet. Unfortunately she hasn't learned to go down yet:( Not the carpets fault. These are well made and are slip free. However they do move around slightly and won't always end up where you leave them. They do show the dirt and hair making the stairs more work to maintain. I received this Black Latex Back Stair Tread Cove for free to write this review.

Great for no slip

This is a quick and easy fix to any stairs you want more grip to. They don't install with adhesives or anything, but you can certainly add them for more protection. Just on their own, without adhesives, they stay rather well. We placed ours on our basement stairs, and I love not feeling the cold cement on my feet. It also buffers the sound as well. To clean, I just pick them up, lay them on the floor all in a row, and vacuum them. Overall, really great product that gives an easy fix to the stairs. I will probably be getting more of these for the other half of our stairs, not just for my kids' safety, but because I love the feel!

Nice Design But Moves Around A Lot

These are incredibly easy to install. Nice carpet texture on top in a dark blue/black color. Rubber backing in a waffle pattern. They vacuum clean without issue, and can also be swept clean with a stiff broom. They are very lightweight. If used outdoors the wind will easily blow them around. I have these on indoor wood steps to the basement. Unfortunately they move around a good bit under foot. Even with the grippy rubber backing. The instructions say you can glue, nail or tape these down and I do recommend that. I tack nailed mine to the steps and have not had any more issues with movement. Overall they are nicely made and should last a very very long time. I recommend them, but make sure to secure them if you don't want them to move.

Softer & Quieter Staircase

There are 13 wooden, finished with deck paint, steps leading to the basement. I decided to install Ottomanson 8”X 13” carpet stair treads to soften and quiet traffic. The steps were cleaned for best contact with the stair treads. The anti-slip rubber backing should keep them in place. I may consider carpet tacks/tape if movement becomes an issue. I will test the 7 pack for a week and secure a second pack later. There is a Ottomanson 3’3” X 5’ “Homeline” area rug on the top landing.

Love the color of these!

I received these stair carpet treads in exchange for my honest opinion of them. I really like the coloration of these! They are mostly black but have a few specks of white in them too. These were made by Ottomanson and feature a rubber nonslip backing to them. I especially like that you do not have to adhere them to your stairs as others I have used before have. They do not slip when you walk on them and stay where you put them. I also found another use for them. I have a puppy who insists on tossing my small area rugs on my laminate floors when he runs on them. No more! I put two of the treads under the area rug and now they do not move at all! Win, win!! Ingenuity at its best..lol.

Well designed and made

We wanted a way to add some foot security to the exterior steps at our house. We found the Ottomanson Livesaver Collection Gray 8 in. x 30 in. Black Latex Back Stair Tread Covers which have meet our needs. The step covers are made of quality materials that will withstand foot traffic while providing secure footing. These step treads are easily cleaned. We secured out step covers to the steps with an adhesive we purchased at HomeDepot. We would recommend these tread covers as we plan to purchase more.

Nice stair treads. I am using these on my stairs from my garage into the house, and they've been great, especially with dirty shoes in winter months. The backing is 100% rubber, and I have had no issue with them skidding at all, just laid on top of the stair treads. They're in pretty regular use, as it's the easiest entrance into the house, and I do have a small dog, and he goes up and down fine. They do seem to clean off dirt from footwear well, but I'm not sure if I'll leave them in place in the summer. I may, just out of laziness, but I'm not sure how much use they'll get. I wouldn't use them on my home's main staircase, but basement or covered exterior stairs are the perfect place. If you have slippery stairs around your pool deck, these may be a great solution. They did arrive bagged, and thus folded in half, and did have an odor, but just laying them flat, and opening the bag, and that was gone in a day.

I got these step covers to cover our stairs going to our basement and cover up the ugly wood step...

I got these step covers to cover our stairs going to our basement and cover up the ugly wood steps. They have a nice rippled tread design that really helps cushion the steps, And the rubberized backing really holds them from slipping. However I think it would be helpful if they had a peel and stick backing because you really need to either nail or staple them down so they cannot move and cause a trip hazard. They are well made and look nice. They come in 2 different colors, Black and Beige. I got both so it helps break up the look and makes the steps much easier to see as well. Overall a nice product.
