    Answer This Question

A:  Hey Dave, yes this manifold assembly can be used this way, but we recommend that you also use a pressure regulator for each zone. Please feel free to give our support team a call at 1-800-488-6156, and we'd be happy to help in any way we can. Thanks!

Q:I'm looking to replace 7 valves on a extended preinstalled orbit manifold. Can i take the 1" male end peices off the old valve and use that or do I need to buy new union connectors?

      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  If you have the same valves then yes you can use the parts from our pre-assembled manifold to connect other same sized Orbit valves.

Q:Are there restrictions on the orientation for installing the valves? I'm considering installing a set in the crawlspace rather than underground, and easiest would be to put the valves vertical on the interior wall

        Answer This Question

A:  This manifold doesn't have any restrictions that would prevent you from installing it vertically or in a crawlspace. If you run into any difficulties during installation, our Orbit support team would be happy to help walk you through the process. We can be reached by phone at (800) 488-6156 or online at support.orbitonline.com. Have a great rest of your day.

            Leaks like a sieve
Right out of the gate this valve set leaked. One of the solenoids is shooting a steady stream out the top. Will now have to spend more money on valves or kits to stop the leaking. If that don’t work I’ll have to dig up my valve area to replace it. Do yourself a favor and buy Rainbird valves and build your own manifold.

              Great idea poor quality leaks
3 units in 6 months, 1st off once you get it you’ll need to take it apart and lube the seals or it will leak, 2nd unit unreliable, flooded my yard multiple times solenoid did not shut off, 3rd unit I attached the picture, plastic brittle and broke two places, my psi is 65 btw. I bought hunter solenoids this time. Orbit has no support by phone. Unreliable

                Easy Install, Poor Performance
I installed these valves in March and they do not seal very well at all. I hear my well pump losing pressure constantly through the day. I’ve taken them apart 4 times already in 2 months to see if any debris is getting pulled in from the well, but haven’t been able to find an obstruction. Maybe the solenoids are faulty. I’ve tried tightening them extra. I don’t know what the issue is but if I was to go back, I would not purchase these again.

I incorporated this product into an irrigation system upgrade for a customer. The existing system was a convoluted series of connections to an outside hose spigot requiring manual control. The upgraded system is now fully automated . This product greatly simplified the connection process for both water supply, electrical and outflow. The individual union joints on all connections is indicative of a well thought out design. The only aspect of the product that was questionable was the wire nuts that were included. The wire nuts are poorly made requiring some extra attention to get them to properly grab the wires.

After installing toro and rain bird for so many years, i was willing to try something new. I was excited to see a preassembled manifold, as I knew it would save lots of time in the setup, which it did. I greased all o rings and taped the 1” threads, and after connecting and charging the system, I was very frustrated to see that two solenoid o rings were faulty and needed replacing, and one of the valve housings CRACKED just below the solenoid. What is scary is that it wasn’t cracked upon installation, I actually watched it slowly bubble up and burst open under the water pressure, which makes me wonder how long it will be before the rest of the valves fail. I wasn’t about to disassemble the entire manifold and engage in the lengthy online return process, as the job was time sensitive, so I just went into the local hardware store and grabbed a replacement valve and threw it in. I would not recommend orbit based on this experience.

Recently had reclaimed water system installed in our neighborhood. I decided to connect my sprinkler system to it which had been connected to potable water. My existing valve system was in pretty messy shape...too deep in ground and sprinkler box was always filled with water. I have 5 zones so also ordered the 2-valve manifold and connected them together. It was VERY easy to install and make the connections. I was slightly concerned with the higher pressure of the reclaimed water system that the hand tightened connections may leak...I followed the installation instructions with just hand tightening....AND when I turned on the water...EVERYTHING was fine! NO leaks at all! I raised the sprinkler box about 6 inches...filled bottom with pea gravel and placed new 5-valve manifold on bricks....I am very happy box is always now completely dry. I recommend this product!

it was cheaper than building separately. it was pretty easy to install and I haven't noticed any leaks...will keep looking. the headache was with the valves - all my other valves have the wires that can go either way for the common. These valves are specific, but not clearly marked. so it took a couple tries. Also I used poly pipe not PVC - so I had to buy the adapter parts...a poly version would have been nice.

                        Super easy manifold
The reason this thing is great is because it is so simple and so much of the work has been done. If you have 6 zones you can just chain them together and you now have the bulk of your work done and you can move on to other plumbing in the system. Everything is pre-assembled and it also comes with a coupler should you need to adjust the size. All in all its simple and works really well and saves a ton of time.
