    • Description

Gorgeous, pinkish red blossoms blanket this small, deciduous tree in spring. Light green summer foliage turns to a striking burgundy red before falling in autumn to reveal grayish, alligator-skin-like bark for winter interest. A natural understory tree that prefers afternoon shade to hide from the direct, hot sun.

      • An attractive ornamental tree for a specimen or as an accent
      • 4 season appeal
      • Prefer partial sun and nutrient rich soils
      • Birds are attracted to the raspberry red, late summer, inedible fruits
      • Tree is grown in and ships in a 5 gal. pot and is approximately 3 ft. to 4 ft. tall after planting in ground

      • May 28, 2015

I was very excited to find that I could buy a Dogwood tree through Home Depot. I ordered it on May 1. However, upon arrival, May 10, the leaves were wilted and although it had a very well developed root system , (which I believed would help the tree to recover from the shipping shock). I placed it in a bucket of water and left it overnight, it did not recover. The next day I planted it in the recommended soil, and until now, May 27 2015, it is showing no recovering at all. The leaves are dead, and when I look closely, the branches seems like they are starting to shrivel up. For some reason it is not taking up water. I am so sad about that. I have no idea what to do next. The tree was expensive, so I will not order one again. I will leave it where it is and still water it, maybe by some miracle it will start to grow again.
