I purchased this bar specifically for breaking and digging out old fence post concrete -- which it excels at -- but I've also used it to lift and move entire sections of fence and other heavy objects. Comparison shopping was difficult until I learned that similar bars have a variety of names (e.g., "San Angelo Bar", "crowbar", "digging bar"). In Russia it's called a "lom" and one can be found in almost every household. It has a point at one end and a blade at the other end. It's not apparent from catalog photos, but the blade end is straight (not bend like a typical crowbar); I ordered online and planned to return it to my local store if the blade end was bent because that would have been useless for digging and breaking concrete. I chose this tool because I'd read about less expensive ones bending too easily (this one appears to be made from a stronger steel alloy), and also because I suspected (now confirmed) that its hexagonal shaft would help me control the blade orientation when striking concrete -- a feature missing from the round bars. It's a bit heavier than most competing models (23 vs. 16-17 pounds), but that's actually a benefit when breaking concrete. On the other hand, the extra weight results in quite the upper body workout. I've applied enormous bending forces to the bar without signs of it flexing, let alone bending; I suspect it would lift a car if I could muster the strength to use it that way. The price is somewhat higher than I was hoping for, but I've found from experience that high quality tools usually justify a higher price and this one is no exception.
