Q:What is the material used to make this bag? The specs state "nylon" but in the first description it states 700 Denier (700D). So which is it? And what is the bag coated with to make it waterproof? Can a Rustoleum waterproofing spray be applied to enhance waterproofing? Please advise. Thank you!

    Answer This Question

A:  The material is a nylon mesh. it is NOT WATERPROOF!! If you shine a flashlight through the material , you can see the light shine through. Even the instructions tell you to wrap the cargo in plastic bags if it can be damaged by water. I don't think waterproofing spray would help

    by|Jul 18, 2021

A:  The bag material is a heavy polyester fabric that has an external laminated PVC layer & as well as an internal laminated PVC layer.

Q:Side rails do not have openings to run the straps through as shown in the picture, only grooves where crossbars latch onto. How can you secure the side straps to prevent lateral movements?

      Answer This Question

A:  I don't think there's a good way except maybe packing it full and tightening it down really good on the cross bars.

      by|Jan 29, 2021

A:  Side rails must have opening to secure side straps properly.

Q:We have cross bars (run door to door) on a Subaru Impreza 2012 but not rails that run front to back (see picture) Will this bag be able to be installed securely on this car as is or will we need something else?

A:  I have a Subaru Outback and I had the same issue. I was worried because I could not tie it down as intended. However, it worked great for me. I travelled from Seattle to Hartford CT through Tennesse! lots of miles. It worked great. The tie downs never loosened and it was very quiet. I mostly had soft things in it and it was full. It rained on the last day of driving and nothing got wet.

              Worked great
I was skeptical about this bag and I didn’t have the money to blow on a hardtop carrier so I went with it. We just drove from Jacksonville Florida to Kalispell Montana which is over 2500 miles and we went through big rains in Jacksonville, 40-60mph winds and snow in Wyoming and then more high winds and snow in Montana. It was on top of my car for about 7 full days before I just took it down and unloaded it into my storage and everything in the bag I packed was dry and exactly as I put it. It says weatherproof and not waterproof but it is pretty waterproof if you follow directions. I wouldn’t put all my faith in the straps that are on the bag though, definitely would get a couple real straps to throw over the top of the bag. But well worth the money

Awesome product. We just drove 670 miles in 6 hours of rain and contents dry. Nothing came loose or damaged. Only complaint is teh stripes are cheap and the extra buckle on teh strap is a pain in the butt to use.

              curbside pick up waiting
I wait for 0.5 hour for the curbside pickup! And after that I need to go inside to pick it myself. So why we have this curbside pickup option?

                Great roof bag
I’m 62 yrs woman that purchased the only bag I could find in a pinch. Didn’t have crossbars. Drove from Northern CA to Houston TX w the bag loaded and it performed beautifully. Followed the instructions and it was very easy to install on my Rav4 using the sidebars. Checked the straps at every major stop and tightened. Everything was perfect. On to VA next…

Really easy to attach to the car. Drove almost 1,000 miles through some heavy rain storms and inside luggage stayed dry!

I'm in the hot so-cal sun. The corner straps are handy to attach to the top rails of my car roof, Except they were fed the wrong way to do the purpose of tightening. I used an additional ratchet strap across the center of the bag for reassurance. Best bag I could find quickly for the money, nice rubberized outer surface and the extra fold over the zipper with velcro seems like 👍 quality. Yes, I do recommend this for short term storage. Just be sure to check it often.
