Lighter than screen shot on this site, but not washed out or pale. It is slightly brighter than the Jeff Lewis "Smoke" shade. It contrasts well and distinctly with white and black. Also looks good with burgundy and reds, orange, yellow and dark blues. It could work with some pastels, too. Looks very nice with dark woods. I did not like it much at all with the lighter shades of brown wood around my house. (dressers and cabinets I have in different rooms.) This is a flat paint, covered a small section of wall painted cardboard brown with one coat, (I'm still trying out shades before I paint the whole room, haven't bought the rug yet.) It does smell like paint, but no strong or offensive odor. Can't speak to durability as I have owned only a short time, but I do very much like the look and coverage. Average drying time.
