I bought this saw at my local Home Depot. Yes I had read the reviews prior to purchasing it and still bought it. Homelite is owned by Techtronic Industries or TTI. They are a Hong Kong company that has purchased up many iconic brands. (Ryobi, Milwaukee, Hoover, ect). My reasoning behind still being willing to purchase this saw after some of the negative reviews where, one it seemed like a lot of the negative reviews where people new to chainsaws and two this saw has been updated and the new Model is UT10569A. Some things I can tell that have changed are the auto tensioner is gone and its a standard chain tensioner now. This seems to have happened on all brands that tried the auto/easy tensioner. It was a good idea that didnt work. I felt this was the issue with all the chain slips as if you research poulan they had the same issue. Another huge improvement is that it now has a 42cc engine despite what Home Depot says. Look at the emissions label on the handle to see the engine displacement or call homelite they'll tell you that it is in fact 42cc. So anyway I went ahead and purchased this saw and I'm glad I did. It started right up out of the box and cut through trees like butter. After about an hour I bumped the chain on a rock that was burried in leaves cutting through some down trees. I sharpened the chain but after this the tension would lossen up every five minutes or so. I went and bought a 14 dollar Oregon chain and this issue has been fine since. If you mess up your chain any saw will have this problem. Also if you don't sharpen your chain or sharpen it incorrectly you'll have this problem. Keep you chain sharp and in good shape and you'll have no tension issues. The only thing that did happen as stated in the reviews was that it started to stall after an hour or so. This is an easy fix. Get a screw driver and turn up your idle!!!! No special tools needed. It takes two seconds. After I re set the idle I've had zero problems with his saw. In summary this is a great little saw that has no issues that you wouldn't encounter with any saw. If by the off chance you do live was up in the mountains 1500' + you may want to just have Home Depot tool rental adjust the a/f mix right when you buy it. EPA makes it so the home mechanic can't mess with it as you need a special tool. I live at around 1000' or so and it's been great. My guess is the factory sets it for a happy medium. I've cut up a few cords of wood with it already and it runs like a champ and really rips through the wood. Definitely would recommend this saw for the price point it's probably the best with the bigger displacement engine now.
