The wiring for this fan is different from all other fans made. It needs a full time power source (120V line that does not shut off ever). Then there is a yellow wire that runs out of the unit to what would normally be the "Hot" side of the switch and component wires that run out of the unit and connect to the other side of each switch. The only way to turn any component on is to make a connection between this yellow wire and one of the component wires. Usually if you have a fan/light there are 2 wires connected to the individual switches that are individually "Hot" when the switch is turned on along with a neutral and a ground. THIS WIRING CONFIGURATION WILL NOT WORK AT ALL WITH THIS LIGHT. The only way this light will work with conventional wiring is if you only want to use one switch to turn everything on. Then you will have to use a wire nut to connect the yellow wire to all component wires at the unit and hook the black white and ground to your wires coming out of the ceiling. I even tried just hooking it up in the conventional way, hooking my "Hot" fan wire to the fan component wire, Hooking my "Hot" Light wire to the Light component wire, and hooking my ground and neutral wires to their respective wires and leaving the full time 120V wire disconnected.... It didn't work at all. I don't know who thought it would be a good idea to make a fan that is not wired like a conventional fan... but this is absurd. This Fan would be good if you are starting with studs and putting in new wiring, but make sure you look at the wiring diagram before you run the wires for it. I attached a picture of the wiring diagrams.
